Richard Keoghoe

Our Chairman Richard passed away on 27 November 2023.  He leaves behind his partner Judith who was by his side every step of his illness, his daughter Benna and granddaughter Mhari. He struck me as an ebullient man who had a clear vision for our club and he encouraged Committee members to introduce new events and members. A warm and friendly man with a naughty sense of humour.  His life achievements include Primary School Teacher, House Father to Troubled teenagers and who can forget that during the lockdown he was responsible for assembling online a wonderful orchestra.  He did so much in his life to be proud of but most of all he was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.

Jen’s thought on him are – The Richard I knew had a creative soul – he was a writer, author, bookclubber (famous for not always reading the whole book!), composer, musician, water-colourist, artist, jam-maker, jigsaw enthusiast, joker, maths lover, photographer, film-maker, gardener, as well as being a loving partner, proud dad, grandad, uncle and great-uncle. He was a bit of a polymath but most of all, he was my friend. The world has lost a fun man.

I also attach the wonderful Christmas Video that Richard made some years ago, one example of  his fun and musicality and imagination

and these great pictures from Jen
